Math Thinking Map FREEBIE

My class has 45 minutes for math workshop every day. One thing I have been working on this year is differentiating my math stations to meet the needs of my students. Of course the first thing I do is to start searching on Pinterest for math station ideas and tips on how to differentiate.

In second grade, we spend a lot of time representing numbers in different ways. I came across a Math Thinking Map on Pinterest that I loved but was unable to locate the original source so I created one myself (if you know the original source please let me know so I can give credit where it's due).

I have used this to help differentiate in my classroom; depending on the place value skills my students need to work on, some students complete the math thinking map using a 2 digit number, whiles others might complete it with a 3 or 4 digit number. You can also use it for a number of the day! Grab your free copy here or click on the picture.

Let me know if you use it in your classroom and how it works for you!

Create Joy: Card Making

In the past year or two, I have developed an obsession with snail mail. I love creating individual cards and sending them to friends and family. It is very relaxing and therapeutic for me. I also find handmade cards are much more personal than an e-mail or text message. Making cards and sending mail is one way that helps me create joy in my life. Below are a few of my favorite cards I have made recently.

Last summer, I sent a card to everyone in my address book! I also love to receive snail mail. I recently joined Postcrossing and am excited about the postcards that will be arriving in my mailbox soon! If you would like me to send you a letter please let me know!

How do you create joy in your life?

April Currently

I am linking up with Farley from Oh' Boy 4th Grade! for this month's currently.

LISTENING.... to an episode of Community. Thursday nights are the best nights for television! All of my favorites come are on; The Big Bang Theory, Community, Parks and Recreation, and Parenthood.

LOVING.... the fact that our Spring Break is one week away. I am not so patiently waiting for it to get here. I am planning to spend part of it at the beach with my family and the rest at home relaxing. I only wish my husband and I had the same spring break (his is one week later).

THINKING.... what I am teaching tomorrow? I know it's math, science, reading and writing...haha.

WANTING.... a delicious brownie! We bought a huge box of brownie mix at Sam's, however I am being too lazy to make them.

NEEDING.... a mental health day. I am trying my best to make it to Spring Break (6 more school days!).

HOURS and LAST DAY.... My hours are 8 - 4, the kids are there from 8:15 to 3:45. Our last day of school is June 11th, seems really far away.
