I'll do my best, and that's all I can ask

Remember when I was having a moment of doubt about the world?
Well  I've realized that I was wasting energy worrying about it.
Energy I could put towards do something good.
I've decided that I am going to do my part and help share wonderful organizations or ways to help with people I know.
I am going to remind myself that every little bit helps.
I think I got so used to instant gratification that it threw me off when I couldn't
see immediate results.
No one can change the world in a day.
But it doesn't hurt to try.
So that's what I am going to do.
Thanks for your sweet and encouraging words.

Life Lately

I hope you all have had a wonderful weekend.
My weekend was busy but fun.
Fall break starts Wednesday which I am excited to go home for a while.
My full time internship starts at the beginning of November, so school work is starting
to pile up faster than I would like. It means I have less time for blogging.
Hopefully things will calm down soon. It's kind of crazy to think these next few weeks are my
 last weeks of college classes.

Hope you are doing fantastic!

The World

This is planet Earth, or the world. Which ever you prefer.
Sometimes I feel so insignificant.
The world is so big and there are so many problems going on.
What can I do to help?
I know every little thing helps but some days it is hard to remember that.
I wish to be more involved, I want to help make the world a better, more peaceful place for future generations.
I've been doing small things to make a difference and I felt like it was working.
But today in my social studies I learned about a problem in the Congo.
It's a big problem and yet I didn't know about it.
Why didn't I? Why was it kept secret? What can I do to help?
These questions were running through my mind as I learned more about it.
And I was hit with an overwhelming feeling of sadness because it feels like no matter how hard I try, there will always be issues in the world that I cannot solve.
I know one person cannot change the entire world.
Do I put too much faith in the human race?
Am I naive to believe that most humans want a change for the better?

Don't get me wrong I am not going to quit doing the small things I already do and I am not giving up.

Do you ever feel like this? What helps keep you encouraged and motivated?

Pictures from the Weekend

Tim came to visit me this weekend. I was so excited to have him here.
It was homecoming weekend so we tried to stay out of town.
We went to Mystery Hill  and the Appalachian Heritage Museum.
Mystery Hill was fun and interesting, unfortunately I didn't get any good pictures while we were in there.
But you could fit inside a bubble and water ran uphill. It was so cool.
These are some of my favorite photos from the Heritage Museum.

An awesome typewriter

I loved this lantern

And this amazing piano.

This is my favorite picture.
The trees are so beautiful, and the reflection in the window was amazing.

An old Fire Station

Then we went to the gem mine.
It was a lot of fun. More fun than I was expecting to have.
We found some pretty awesome things.
I am planning to go back to have some of the items I found cut.
Tim was so excited about what he found.
They were doing something special for Halloween and we found a finger in our bucket (it was rubber)!

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!!

Interesting Facts

Just a few things about me that are interesting (weird):

If I have a chicken biscuit, I have to eat the top biscuit part, the chicken part, and the bottom biscuit part. In that order. I can't eat them all together.

I cannot sleep if my closet door is open, even a tiny bit.

The only sandwiches I eat are grilled cheese and peanut butter & jelly.
And I can only eat a grilled cheese sandwich if it's cut at a diagonal.

I try to avoid blow drying my hair if I can.
I think I had my Mom or Dad blow dry it for me until I was 10.

I now know how to get a water balloon to fit in a glass bottle.

I am not a fan of odd numbers.

What makes you interesting?

Etsy Love

I love Etsy.
I love to look at all the beautiful hand made things created by wonderful people.
Here are a few of my favorites at the moment.

The size is so cute and the colors are gorgeous.
Perfect for fall and winter.

I have been looking a new address book.
I fell in love with this one by Beth Bee Books.
The mailbox is so cute and you can add or take away addresses as needed.

These bracelets by EmmyLew remind me of candy and something Emma Pillsbury would wear.
I love the bright colors. They are gorgeous bracelets.

I want this adorable chalkboard to hang in my room.
It is amazing and it's pink.

What are some of your Etsy favorites at the moment?
