I am Going to Embarrass Myself

I was in high school when the whole Myspace/ #ithinkiamfabulous picture phase was popular. Or maybe I was just a little conceited. haha. So in order to provide you with some laughs and smiles, I am going to share my favorite and completely silly "self-portraits" with you.

These are all about 4 or 5 years old, I can't believe how short my hair was. Witty and entertaining comments are welcome.

Are You Stressed?

With the end of my summer session rapidly approaching and having so many projects, take home exams, and in class exams  and 10 hours of service learning to complete one of my professors could tell we were all pretty stressed out. I'm extra stressed because I am moving out on Thursday.
Thankfully she was kind enough to cut back on some of our assignments.
She also handed out a sheet today title 101 Ways to Cope with Stress.
(I can't get the link to work in Chrome but it works in Firefox. Let me know if you have trouble with it or can help me fix it.Thanks.)
Hopefully you aren't stressed but if you are I hope this helps you relax some.

I knew it was going to be a pretty good day when I heard "Don't Stop Believin' "  by Journey on the radio this morning. It was a good day except for a super crazy storm and losing power for about an hour.
Also when you commit to trying to listen to every song in your iTunes, some interesting songs and artists I haven't listened to since middle school show up. My favorites so far are Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey's early albums like Fantasy, Patsy Cline, the Rent soundtrack, and 50 Cent. Just to name a few. I really have an odd collection of music.

I hope you have had a great start to your week.

P.S. Did you know is offering one year of free 2 day shipping to college students?
Go here to check it out.

P.S. again:  If you haven't seen Toy Story 3 or Despicable Me yet you need to go see them now!!

Sunflowers, Coca-Cola, and a 4-Day Weekend.

I spent last weekend at home surrounded by these lovely images.
I absolutely love the sunflower.
I forgot how beautiful they are.
This week has kept me pretty busy.
I finally finished Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (review to come soon).
I am about 200 pages into the final book!
I am getting closer to crossing a few things off my 101 Things in 1001 Days list.

Would you like a nice cold refreshing Coca-Cola?

Today both of my classes were canceled which was exciting.
I kept thinking it was Friday all day long.
Four day weekend = amazing (minus the homework).

I hope you have had a spectacular day!!

It is so easy to participate in and why wouldn't you want to?
Seriously, who doesn't want to be happy?

Would you like to get involved?
You can e-mail Project You at

"Hi, I'm Regina Phalange"

I watch Friends pretty often.
It never fails to make me laugh.
I love Phoebe. She is probably one of my favorites.
She is weird and quirky and she doesn't care.
Here are some lovely clips of her for you to enjoy.
Hope you have a happy Monday!

Happy List

Here are a few things that have made me happy in the last few weeks:

Crawling into bed on a hot summer night and your sheets are cold.
Children laughing at the movies.
 Ice cream dates
Staying up late to finish a chapter in a really good book.
Discovering great movies like Steel Magnolias on Netflix.
Sleeping in until 11:30 am.
Beautiful rain storms.

What made you happy this week?

Making A Difference - We Give Books

I recently came across this awesome organization, We Give Books.
We Give Books offers the choice of 9 campaigns that you can support which puts books in the hands of children who have none.

How do they do this?
They have a library of books that you can read online. The books are appropriate for ages 0 to 10. This is great  for all you lovely parents and teachers or people like me who just love to read children's books.
It is free. All you have to do is create an account and then start reading.

You can learn more about how it works here.
I know some of you aren't parents but you can bookmark it for the future or share it with your friends who are parents.
We Give Books is a great way to help and it only takes a about 5 minutes to donate one book.

I Hope We Never Grow Up

One reason Tim and I are a match made in heaven is because we both enjoy embracing our inner child.
We like to do fun things we did when we were children.

Like playing with bubbles.

Making fishy faces and entertaining my little sister.

Building snowmen.

We also like to go see kids movies like Toy Story 3.
We always have to visit the toy section in Target or Wal-Mart.
I love doing these things with him. It makes life fun.
I hope we will always remember to do these things and never grow up completely.
Hope you have a wonderful day and find a way to embrace your inner child!

Oh, You're Lovely.

I hope you all have had a wonderful week.
I started my second summer session and well it's going be a lot of work and it'll keep me busy.
But it will be worth it. I'll be one step closer to graduating in the spring (can't believe it's that close!).

I have been enjoying the summer months.
There have been some really beautiful days here.
I love campus when it's not so crowded.
I'm trying to finish the Harry Potter books as fast as I can but things keep distracting me.
I get distracted mainly by your wonderful blogs,
Mad Men, school work, and sleep.
That's a small life update.
Now I'm off to sit on the couch, listen to the rain fall and read Harry Potter.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

and smarter than you think."

Our America Celebration!

Tim and I celebrated America together this Sunday.
We planned to go see fireworks that evening in Boone, but we waited for 30 minutes and they still hadn't started.
So we took a trip to Wal-Mart and bought some Morning Glorys to light on our own.
It's illegal to buy fireworks in NC but luckily my neighbors drove to another state and bought some.
We were able to watch fireworks from my back porch and then we played Monopoly City.

I am not a huge fan at Monopoly mainly because I always lose unless I'm playing some one much younger than me. This new version was fun but it took me a while to remember all the new rules.
We had a fun day. Hope you, your family, and friends all had a great day as well.

The Blowing Rock

Tim and I went to see The Blowing Rock here in the mountains.
It was interesting.
The Blowing Rock is known as the only place where the snow falls upside down.
There is an interesting legend associated with The Blowing Rock, which you can read about here.

The view was so gorgeous. I could have stood there almost all day.

I am really going to miss these mountains once I graduate college.

Here is a video to show how the wind blows. Sorry it's sideways and not the best quality.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Thanks to all the men and women who continue to fight for our freedom.

I Heart Movies.

Ever since I was a little girl I remember how excited I would get to sit down and watch a movie or even go to the movies. Both of these events caused me to jump for joy. Now going to see a movie is just as exciting. (No this is not about the Eclipse movie). I've gone to see Toy story 3 twice. I loved it both times. It was amazing and I want to own it on DVD right now. I love owning movies. I get very excited when I buy a new one that I want to go home and watch it right away. The only thing I don't enjoy about buying movies is they can be really expensive. This was not the situation I found myself in today. Luckily Sadly, most of the Blockbuster stores around here are going out of business. This means everything in the store is for sale. Tim and I took a trip to our local closing Blockbuster store today. We both had a difficult time deciding which movies we really wanted. They had so many to choose from and for such a reasonable price, how can you decide?
I finally decided and here is what I got:

I bought 7 movies for $30.
New Moon was only $5. Are you jealous?
I might make a return trip tomorrow...
Exciting things like this make my day.

Hope you have a great day!!
