Book 23 - Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix

I finished Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix. This is the 5th book in the Harry Potter series.
In his 5th year at Hogwarts, Harry knows that Lord Voldemort has returned but other people in the wizarding community still do not believe him or Dumbledore. There is a secret society called The Order of Phoenix. All the members of The Order of Phoenix are people who do not support Voldemort and are working to stop him from gaining power. Throughout the book Harry and his friends try to do anything to help stop Voldemort, as well as take out their new headmaster, Dolores Umbridge.

This book had a lot of action. It was longer than all of the other books in the series and it took me quite some time to get through it. I enjoyed reading it but felt that the story was drawn out more than it needed to be. I was very sad with the death of a main character but found the explanation of the bond between Harry and Voldermort interesting.

Book 22 - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

I finished reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. This book is the 4th book in the Harry Potter Series. In this book Harry and his friends receive a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher and they take a trip to the Quidditch World Cup. The  Triwizard Tournament is being held at Hogwarts for the first time in many years. Some how Harry's name gets entered as a competitor even though he is underage. Harry has to compete in the three activities even though his magical skills are not quite up to the level of these tasks. Harry also discovers that Voldemort is quickly rising to power again.

I enjoyed this book. It didn't take me very long to get through it. It was jam packed with action and suspense. I kept reading because I just had to know what happened next. If you enjoyed the other Harry Potter books you will definitely enjoy this one as well.

Pay It Forward

Have you seen Pay it Forward?
I watched it for the first time last week.
I loved the story. It was a good movie, I cried.
I also love the whole idea of "Paying it Forward."
The idea is that you help 3 people and then those 3 people pass it on to another 3 people.
I think the world needs more kind people in it.
A lot of people are always in a hurry, pushing people out of their way to get where they are going.
I know I am definitely guilty of it.
I am going to try to be better about being nicer to people I encounter in my every day life.
I am all for doing my part to help make the world a better place.

Rule Number 6

{weheartit}

For my music class we are reading The Art of Possibility.
At first I was not looking forward to reading this book but it is surprisingly a really interesting book.
You should read it if you get the chance.

There is a chapter in the book called Rule Number 6.
Rule Number 6 is "Don't take yourself so gosh darn seriously
Do you know what the best part is?
There are no other rules.

After reading this chapter I thought "Wow, I really need to remember this." Sometimes I get so caught up in what other people think of me. I need to remember this rule. Life is about having fun and enjoying yourself. There are some days when I make a mistake or feel completely ridiculous for something I did or said, on these days I need to remember Rule Number 6. I hope you have a wonderful day and remember "Don't take yourself so gosh darn seriously."

Dream On

I am obsessed with Neil Patrick Harris and Matthew Morrison (and Glee).
Also obsessed with their version of this song.
I probably listened to this song about 20 times today.
Definitely my new favorite celebrity crushes.

I love this video.
Happy Tuesday!!

Linville Falls

On Saturday some friends and I went hiking at Linville Falls.
It was so pretty. I loved the falls.
We hiked about 4 or 5 miles.

 The river.

The falls from a different view. We were so high up.

I was so sore last night while I was trying to sleep.
Although the hike wasn't long it was mainly up a mountain.
It was a fun day.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Campus Adventures

This week I took pictures around campus mainly for my 365 project.
But I liked them so much I want to share them all with you.

A piece of artwork.

I think these flowers are so pretty.

Cute little duck.

This is a giant air freshener.  It is an art installation. It makes me smile every time I see it.

Hope you have a wonderful Saturday!

Dear North Carolina

Dear North Carolina,

You are probably my favorite state. The beach, the mountains, and the city all in one state, what more could a girl want? I also like that you provide us with very distinct seasons. Fall is my favorite. I would like to thank you for naming your towns and other things in the state adorable names that make me giggle. This definitely makes my two hour drive home from class much more enjoyable. My favorites at the moment are Happy Valley and Sugar Loaf. Every time I drive through those towns I smile. I think I might move to Happy Valley one day. I like "Fort Defiance," I am going to have to check it out one day. I also like your creek names such as one creek named Long Creek then the next creek down the road is Little Long Creek. I appreciate your kind road signs such as "Pass with Care."  Thanks for entertaining me. I hope  won't ever have to move but if I do, I will always come back to visit. I am looking forward to discovering more exciting things about you.

xoxo,
Sarah

Things that Made Me Smile this Week

Seeing this beautiful sunset before a two hour drive back from my evening class.

Passing a place called "Fort Defiance."
I am not sure why but it made me laugh.

Spending 2 hours with wonderful and entertaining women learning to play the recorder and do a little dance to the beat of a drum.

Seeing this small rainbow yesterday evening as well.

E-mailing blog friends while I'm sitting in class.

Running over a skunk's tail. It was not enjoyable at the time but it made me laugh later.

Eating a Snicker's ice cream bar. They are amazing.

What made you smile this week?
