Yoga Class

Sara and I got up Thursday at what felt like the crack of dawn and went to a Yoga Stretch class.
I enjoyed it very much.
But silly me, I forgot how many steps are on campus. And how many lead up to my apartment.
The two and a half hour drive home on Friday did not help.
But it was fun and great to exercise and stretch.

I was also very glad to meet Sara.
She is so sweet and wonderful.

I hope you all are doing well and had a great Tuesday.

P.S. Sara has a much better version of this story. It had me laughing out loud.

Foolish?

Yesterday I made the smart decision to workout.
Umm...workout?
What is that?

I participated in Yoga for a good 40 minutes.
It's been a looong time since I've done anything like that.

Now I'm so sore.
And when I sneeze, it aches like crazy.
If you know me, you know I never sneeze just once.
It's a least four sneezes every single time.
Sigh.

I'm going to try yoga again tonight.
I need to work on being healthy.

I Have a Confession

I have a confession to make...
Actually I have quite a few.
But before I share them with you, you have to promise not to judge me.

Promise?
Okay, Good.

Confession #1
I am obsessed with exclamation points.
I realized the other day almost every time I comment on someone's blog it looks like this:
"Have a great day!!!!!!"
I apologize if I have done this to you.
I'll try to be better.

Confession #2
Yesterday my roommates and I sat in our living room, because evening classes were canceled and we watched the Jersey Shore marathon on TV. From like 3 pm until the reunion show was over at Midnight. That is a lot of Jersey Shore. I still can't believe we watched it that long.

Confession #3
I'm really really considering hiring a hit man to take out some of the boys that live downstairs.

Confession #4
I have a sweet and salty tooth...It's a curse.

Maybe not quite as "racy" as you might have thought. haha.
Do you have a confession?

I Feel Special...

The lovely and funny Sara over at Sara Spelled Without an H gave me an award.
I very much enjoy reading her blog and though we go to the same school we still haven't bumped into each other. Her blog always provides me with a good giggle. You should definitely go check it out.
Thanks Sara!

I would like to pass this on to Katherine Anne over at Medical School Mrs.
She always leaves me super sweet comments and kind words.
And her blog is really cute!

Tim and I Through the Years (In Pictures)

These are some of my favorite pictures of Tim and I that have accumulated over the years we've been together. I just wanted to share them with you.
(Especially since I'm really missing him today)

I hope you have a great day!

I've Got a Feeling, Do You?

Today was a pretty good day.
It rained but I didn't mind because I got to wear my cute rain boots!
And I only had one class.

I got the feeling today that sometimes all some people need is someone to listen to them.
I was walking to my car from class and this guy whom I've never seen before in my life started to talk to me.
Weird? Maybe a little.
He looked at me and said, "I think today is just a bad day."
Me: "Why do you say that?"
Strange boy: "I drive 45 minutes to class, I left my coffee on the car this morning, got a speeding ticket, it's raining...etc."
Me: "It's not too bad..."
Strange boy (not verbatim): "Well it's my second week of classes here...I'm 30, made some mistakes, couldn't live with myself, I'm starting over."
Me: "That's good that you're trying, I hope your day gets better from here on out."
Strange boy: "Thanks, hope you have a good day too."
Then we walk in completely different directions.

I'll probably never see him again. The walk from the bottom of the tunnel to the parking lot took maybe 5 minutes. Why he shared all this information with me I may never know.
It just got me thinking that some days maybe the person talking your ear off just really needs to talk. Maybe they are the person who is always listening.
Next time you come across a stranger who is just talking away, I challenge you to listen.

I'm Going to LEARN!

Oh boy I hope I learn a lot.
I think my classes for this semester are going to be very interesting.
I am actually pretty excited about most of them.
(Wish I didn't have to pay $125 for one book)

I am taking:
  • Foundations of American Education
  • Health Education in Elementary Schools
  • Developing Classroom Assessments
  • How Children Move
  • Society and Technology
  • Literacy, Technology, and Instruction
I really think I'm going to enjoy my classes.
What's your favorite class you've ever taken?

Book Number 16 - The Gatecrasher

I finished reading The Gatecrasher by Madeleine Wickham.
This is the second book of hers that I've read,
which means I'm getting closer to crossing another thing off my 101 List.

Summary:
Fleur has found a way to make money without a job. She crashes funerals. She stands out with her bright hair and always has on a stunning hat. Fleur gets close to the widower and works her way into his heart. Then she gets added to his gold card, withdrawals a lot of money and leaves.
Recently she crashed the funeral of Emily Favour and works her way into Richard's life.
Fleur finds herself to feel at home with Richard's family and friends. Everything is going to plan until Fleur's daughter, Zara shows up on Richard's doorstep. The story gets more interesting from there.

I really enjoyed this book. I wish it would have ended a little differently. I felt like there was all this build-up and then it just ended. I did enjoy reading it. It was a pretty easy read. Would be great for a beach trip. There was some suspense and some major laughs. I would recommend this book.

Cheese Biscuits

This week I made cheese biscuits.
They were delicious.

Just buy a box of Bisquick, follow the biscuit recipe on the box.
Add shredded cheddar cheese.
Then drop them on the pan.
Easy.
And delicious.

Hope you've enjoyed your weekend.

Help Haiti

By now I'm sure you have all heard of the horrible disaster in Haiti.
I wish I had the income to donate a lot of money to help Haiti in their time of need.
Unfortunately I do not.

There are a few lovely ladies I know who are doing their part to help:

Naomi of Rockstar Diaries makes these beautiful headbands.
For the next two weeks, all proceeds from her store are going to help Haiti.

Shanley of thoughts from S. has a personal connection to Haiti.
She is raising money to help for her birthday. Today is her 21st birthday, and she has already surpassed her goal of $210.
Click here to read her amazing story.
And here to learn how to donate to her cause.

Hope for Haiti.
They have lots of information and they are doing a lot to help donate money.

If you are doing something or know of a easy way to help please let me know.
I'd love to add it to this list.

DIY: Bulletin Board

I found this little bulletin board while I was at home. And I needed to put something on the walls in my room here. I had extra ribbon lying around, so when I returned I bought a small hot glue gun for $3 at Wal-mart. I came home and worked some magic...

And finished product! YAY!
I love it especially since it's pink with polka dots! Matches everything perfectly.
This took me maybe 10 minutes.

Now to fill my bulletin board with lovely images and postcards.
Let me know if you would like to exchange postcards (wouldn't that be fun?)

Hope you've had a fantastic day!

Book Number 15 - The Secret Life of Bees

I finished reading The Secret Life of Bees.
I absolutely LOVED this book.
It was an amazing story.

Summary:
Lily is a young girl living in South Carolina in the 1960's. Her mother died when she was very young and she lives with her abusive father. Lily is raised by a black woman, Rosaleen. Rosaleen used to work in the peach orchards for Lily's father but when Lily's mother died he brought her in to take care of Lily. One day Rosaleen gets into trouble and winds up in jail. Lily becomes sick of her father's abuse so she breaks Rosaleen out and they run away. Lily's mother left a label of Black Madonna Honey with Lily after she died. The label had a city on the back, this is where Lily and Rosaleen run to. They meet the makers of the Black Madonna Honey and start an amazing adventure.

This book was fantastic. I laughed, I cried, I really enjoyed this book.
I highly recommend you put it on your To Be Read list.

So much Snow.

I opened the door to the back porch of my apartment this is what greeted me. There are still a few inches under where the door is.
Crazy snow right?

I've returned to Boone and the snow is definitely here. I haven't left the apartment since Thursday because my car does not have 4 wheel drive and I don't want to risk crashing.

I finally got everything unpacked today.
As much as I hate packing, I hate unpacking more.

Sorry I've been absent from the blogging world for awhile.
Once I get back in to a regular routine, post will be more often.
Thanks for not leaving me.

I hope you've had a good weekend.

Three Words for 2010

Kory started a discussion on 20sb about defining the new year with three words.

My three words are:

Fearless - so that I will not be afraid to go out a try new things and get out of my comfort zone

Believe- As long as I believe in myself I can accomplish anything I set my mind too, and if I believe in the beauty of everything around me I can maintain a more positive outlook on life.

Love - It is important to love the people in my life and the things in my life. "It is better to have loved and lost than to not have loved at all." (don't remember who said that)

So what would your three words be?

Things I'm Looking Forward to Enjoying

Over the next month or so I am looking forward to enjoying many things.

I can't wait to read my AUTOGRAPHED copy of
"The Last Song" by Nicholas Sparks.

I can't wait to put together my new bookshelf in my apartment
and fill the shelves with wonderful books.

I can't wait to start a scrapbook in the lovely new pink
scrapbook I have.

I can't wait to sit down and watch "Singing in the Rain"
on DVD.

I can't wait to slowly start marking more things of my 101 List.

Are you looking forward to anything within the next month?

Celebration!

I celebrated my 21st birthday on Wednesday with my family and Tim's family.
We had a fun dinner.
My Grandma sent me a giant cupcake pan so I made a giant cupcake.
It was so delicious and fun to eat.

Look at how pretty it was!

Last night Tim and I went out to dinner at the Japanese Steakhouse.
I was so full but it was so good.
Then we went to his aunt's house to ring in the New Year.

Happy 2010!
I hope you all have had a great start to your year so far.
