It's My Birthday!!

Today is my 21st birthday!

I had a family celebration last night.
The best friend and I went to breakfast this morning
and then shopping at the mall and Target.

I have the perfect outfit for dinner tonight with Tim.

This day keeps getting better.
I won't let the rain ruin my birthday fun.

Pictures to come soon!

I hope you have a happy and safe New Year's Eve!!

Movies You Should See.

First off I would like to say,
Happy 22nd Birthday to my best friend, Hillary!

I've seen about 3 "recent" movies within the past week or so.
I rented two, so those aren't technically recent.
And saw one in the theater yesterday.

I saw Julie & Julia.
Loved the movie, I thought it was so adorable.
So much better than the book.

I saw 500 Days of Summer.
I loved the movie even though I was mad at the ending.
I want to steal Zooey's wardrobe from this movie.

Yesterday I went to see The Frog Princess.
Amazing. I loved it.
I didn't realize how much I had missed the original Disney animation.
Now I want to watch all the other Princess movies (mainly because I still dream of being one someday).

Have any movie recommendations for me?

It's Almost my Birthday!

Sorry I've been absent for a while.

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas.
I know I did.

I can't believe the year is almost over, it makes me sad.
I feel like I have so much to do and not a lot of time to complete it.
Right now I have SIX books on my to be read list.
I would love to finish one before the year is over, but I doubt that will happen.
I'm very excited though because it's been a long time since I've had that many books on my shelf just waiting to be read.

I hope you have enjoyed this wonderful holiday season.
I would love to hear about something special you did.

P.S. 2 days until my birthday!

That Girl has her Nose in a Book Again!

My room is chaos.
Because after having a broken closet for almost year, and then finally getting my closet fixed this summer, due to recent (small) water damage it is now broken again.
No closet = no where to hide all my clothes and shoes and junk.

(yes, I am sitting in my closet. and yes, it is pink, kind of hard to tell from this picture)

But on the plus side, I found a great new spot to read.
And I can just close the door and hide away from the world.
Maybe I'll leave my closet broken.

Christmas Town, USA

Tonight Tim and I ventured out to what is known around here as Christmas Town, USA.
They have the best Christmas lights for miles.
It was beautiful.

Traffic was awful.
We sat in traffic maybe 30 to 45 minutes, stopped to eat at Chick-fil-a (delicious) then sat in traffic for another hour and a half at least!
But it was worth it.
The lights were beautiful and made me happy.
We got to spend a lot of time talking to each other without many distractions such as the television or other people.
We had meaningful conversations and some not so meaningful ones.
Mainly he laughed at me being silly,
which is fine by me.

P.S. Doctor called today, said the growth has decreased to half the size it was.
I was so happy, so relieved.
Thank you all for your sweet comments and prayers.
I really appreciate it.

Snow, Where are you?

In Boone in snowed up to 10 inches, maybe more.
I'm not there, I'm in Charlotte, a mere 2 1/2 hours away and no snow.
Why did it have to snow 3 days after I left?
I wish I could go play in it now and not have to think about anything serious.
I could forget my few worries and stresses and have a child like mind set for just a few hours.
It would be glorious.

I had my MRI "check-up" yesterday and the testing part went fine.
I was very still so I was only in that little confined space for maybe an hour but it was very loud.
Now waiting to hear what the scan showed is the worst anxious feeling ever.
I'm sure it will be fine but I can't help but worry and think of the negative possibilities.

I wish I had snow to play in.
If you have some where you are, could you send some to me? Please?

Such a Lucky Girl

Oh me. Oh my. Today was a busy day. I woke up and went to do some work for my Dad to earn some $. Then Tim and I went to visit where we worked over the summer. I sure did miss all those kiddos. Nothing like seeing 30 to 40 kids faces light up when they see you. I was bombarded with hugs and I didn't realize how much I had missed them.

One little boy asked me, "Are you busy on December 30th?" My reply, "I'm not sure. Why?" "Well I wanted to invite you to my birthday party." Such a sweet 7 year old boy. I can't wait until I'm a teacher!

Today I asked Tim "What do you think I should write about on my blog?"
His reply, "How beautiful you are."
My response "Wouldn't that make me conceited?"
His fantastic answer, "It's not conceited if it's true."
Isn't he the sweetest??

I'm such a lucky girl.

Meet My Wonderful Cousin Ariel

This is Ariel. She is one of my many amazing cousins.

Two years ago she shaved her head to help raise money for St. Baldrick's. St. Baldrick's is an organization that uses donations to help fund more in childhood cancer research than most other organizations. Ariel raised over $2,200 when she participated two years ago. She is planning to participate again this coming March and her goal is to raise somewhere between $3,000 to $5,000.

(the way her hair changed from right to left)

She is not asking for a lot, even if you could just donate $1. Every little bit helps. If you are anything like me you probably have a dollar in lose change just lying around your home. This is an amazing cause. And if your business would like to donate it is tax deductible.

If you are unable to donate, could you please pass this along to your friends and family who you think might be able to donate.

Donate here to help Ariel reach her goal.

Thank you all so much!

Little Letters

dear apartment,
i really wish you would be warmer.

dear boyfriend,
thank you for going with me to the art gallery today.
i really appreciate it. :]

dear boys who live below me,
i don't care if you are a member of The Beatles,
it is never appropriate to practice your guitar from 3:30 am
to 5 am. especially when it interferes with another persons sleep schedule.

dear next week,
i really hope you slow down.
i'm not looking forward to friday.

dear roommates,
i'm glad we all get along pretty well.

p.s. i stole this idea from two wonderful ladies, who write lovely letters:
the fantastic nicole and fabulous naomi.

No Matter How Many Times I Watch...

No matter how many times I watch specific episodes of my favorite shows I can't help but cry.

The Rachel and Ross fight after "We were on a Break"{image}

I know this image isn't from that scene but I couldn't find a good picture...Even though I've seen this episode 10 to 20 times I still tear up every time. It makes me so sad...and I know how it all works out in the end but I still get teary-eyed.

Also when Lorelai and Luke fight on Gilmore Girls. Before they started dating, while they were dating, after they were dating...anytime they fight I get teary eyed.

I'm not sure why this causes me to feel such strong emotions every single time but it does.

Is there a certain show or movie that makes you cry or tear up every time you watch??

PepperMint Meltaways

This recipe comes from Reynolds. These look and sound so delicious. I actually believe I can already smell them even though I'm not making them. Silly right?

2 tablespoons LAND O LAKES® Butter, softened

1 to 2 tablespoons milk

1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract

2 to 3 drops red food color, if desired

Candy canes or hard peppermint candy, crushed

PREHEAT oven to 350°F. Line 2 cookie sheets with Reynolds Parchment Paper; set aside.

COMBINE butter, powdered sugar and 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract in large bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Reduce speed to low; add flour and cornstarch. Beat until well mixed.

COVER dough; refrigerate until firm (30 to 60 minutes).

SHAPE rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into 1-inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on parchment-lined cookie sheets.

Christmas Presents Blunder

Have you ever received a gift that you thought was going to be amazing and it turned out to be something odd? At our house we have a tradition that we are allowed to open one gift on Christmas Eve. One particular year as I was caught up in the excitement of Christmas, I naturally chose the biggest present. This was stupid on my part. I opened my present and a received a glass shaped head. It looked like this:

Not the best gift for a middle school girl, especially since she doesn't know what it was. My entire family and I were baffled as to what it's purpose was. At first I thought it was a bank, but there was no coin what could this be? I finally called the giver and asked "what is this for?" It is a place to hold your hats. One other presents was a hat but I would have to wait until Christmas morning to discover that. This was probably the most crazy unexpected gift I ever received. Now I use it in my room to display whichever lovely hat I prefer.

My Life Today...

My life today was interesting? Maybe...probably not, but I'll share what happened with you anyways.

I was so excited last night to wake up this morning and wear my new super cute outfit with my super cute matching boots. I wake up and it is raining so hard and it had rained all night and planned to rain all day. Great. I was determined to wear my outfit anyways, so I did. Unfortunately I had to wear my rain boots (they're cute too but just didn't match as well). Walked around all day freezing and wet.

Then while I was sitting in my last class of the day the girl sitting to my left said to me "Something smells like spaghetti and meatballs." We look to our right and this other girl had a can of Chef Boyardee spaghetti or something and was eating it straight from the can with a fork! I found this so weird. And then she started to scrape the can, metal against metal = worst sound ever. (Literally just got chills thinking about it)

Then work this afternoon was complete and utter chaos. And that's all I have to say about that. (Only one day left)

Driving around town today was difficult. I don't understand my defroster. It has mind of it's own and is psycho.

Best part of the day? The rainbow I saw on my way home from work. After a long icky, dark, rainy day there was a gorgeous rainbow. I wish I could have taken a picture of it.

But I had a delicious dinner and am in for the rest of the night. No more cold and no more rain (at least for today).

Tell me something about your day.

Children are Precious

Yesterday at work I sat down to play a game with a young boy. He said "Here let me set everything up for you because you are a lady and men do more work than ladies do." - so precious. He was so sweet, and when my turn came he even spun the spinner for me. Adorable right? I smiled for the rest of the day.

What has made you smile recently?

My 21st Birthday

My 21st birthday is coming up at the end of this month. I would love to celebrate in style but I have a very limited budget. Also my birthday happens to fall on New Years Eve so it's hard to celebrate birthday and holiday all in one. Do you have any good ideas to share with me? How did you celebrate your 21st birthday?

I would love to hear from you!
