My Mom Came to Visit

On Friday my Mom came to visit me! She arrived late Friday night and we watched Gilmore Girls until we fell asleep. Then Saturday morning we went to breakfast at the Diner. It was delicious and fun because I felt that I went back in time to the 1950's (I believe I should have lived in this decade). Then after breakfast we went around town and piddled. We walked around downtown and discovered a new store. My mom bought a beautiful new purse, which was hand-made in Africa. At a store down the street, I got one of these green bracelets. Aren't they beautiful? It was handmade in Kenya from recycled magazine paper. They make necklaces and earrings as well. Acacia Creations is a wonderful company. Check out their site so see everything they do. I had so much fun with my mom, it was really good to see her.

What did you do on this wonderful weekend?

Second Post For Today

So I just found this picture on my camera. I had to share it with you.

The view from my apartment the other night.

Absence...

I'm so sorry. I know I have been an absent blogger for a while. This week has been crazy, busy, and overwhelming. It's hard adjusting back to school as well as adjusting to living in an apartment. Plus having to spend lots of $$ on books (luckily I don't have to buy all of my books.) This semester is going to be crazy, full of lots of projects. But I am excited because I will be one semester closer to graduating and having my own classroom. I will work harder.

Have a fabulous and happy weekend.

Totally Twisted

So I had a hard time because the product I used to use to make my hair curly stopped being made. I found this Totally Twisted Mousse from Herbal Essences and it makes my hair super crazy curly. I absolutely love it, plus it smells good and is inexpensive. I just had to share with you.

I hope you had a wonderful Sunday.

Book Number 10

I am writing this while sitting in bed, almost completely exhausted so if it doesn't make sense I sincerely apologize. I finally finished reading "Julie & Julia" by Julie Powell. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found Julie Powell's writing style to be different but was easy to comprehend. This book provided me with lots of entertaining laughs. She used a little too much language for my personal taste but I am glad she didn't censor herself for the sake of the book. This definitely made it easier to relate to her. I enjoyed reading about all of her cooking adventures, the ones that went well and the ones that didn't. It was nice to have an average character. I wished I could have tasted some of her amazing meals. I enjoyed this book and thought it was a good read. I would recommend it. I can't wait to see the movie. Only 45 books left. (Yes I know summer is practically over but I still would like to see how long it takes me to reach my goal)

Also I found an amazing pair of gray slacks from Old Navy for only $4.77. I am so excited. :]
I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

Quote for the Day

"I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it's the thing I like most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It's probably the most important thing in a person."
- Audrey Hepburn

I simply adore Audrey Hepburn and I love the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's."

Dear Rainy Day

Dear Rainy Day,

I hope that as I continue to grow older in years, you will always remind me to stay young at heart. I hope you will always remind to embrace my inner child by splashing in your wonderful puddles.I hope you will always inspire me to use my imagination and help me to remember that I never have to grow up completely. I want to thank you Rainy Day for all the fun days you have provided me with. I am looking forward to our fun days in the future.

Yours truly,
Sarah Nicole

Book Stores and Libraries

I love book stores and libraries. I always feel smarter or like I should belong in a movie when I walk into one. It is definitely a reader's heaven. I wish I could sit down and stay until I have read almost every book. I know I'm a nerd. But I think it makes life more fun. Anyways the main reason for my post is I found this picture of a library somewhere in the world and absolutely love it. I just had to share it with all of you lovely people.

Isn't this place spectacular? I would love to go there and read a book. I love the red color. And the staircase is amazing.

Celebrity Crush

I was never one of those typical teenage girl who swooned over the new hottest celebrity. I had never been completely obsessed with a famous person until I discovered the wonderful, one and only, Josh Turner. He is a country music star. And he is fabulous. I love/adore/admire him. I used to dream of marrying him(shh..don't tell Tim). He's been my celebrity crush for a long time (still is) and his voice still gives me goosebumps.

I mean with this gorgeous smile and his amazing deep voice, how could you not love him?

Favorite Girly Activity

Nothing makes me feel more girly than picking out a bright gorgeous color and painting my toenails. Granted they aren't perfect when I am done but no one would notice on a galloping horse. I can't stand for my toenails not to be painted, if they are chipped I will probably being wearing socks (which I prefer not to wear) because I can't stand to look at my unpolished toenails.

What is your favorite girly activity?

Pink is Love

I want these earrings from FleurAvenue. These are so cute and classic and of course pink. She has lots of really cute stuff in her Etsy shop. Definitely check out her shop as well as her blog: Where Fairytales becomes a reality. I love the title. Of course I should be packing and doing things other than surf the internet but I've become a professional procrastinator (the internet makes it much easier).

Mixed Emotion

Today was my last day at my summer job. It made me sad because I will miss all the wonderful people I got to work with. I will also miss all the amazing spectacular children that made me smile everyday. So I'm sad to be leaving on one hand. But on the other I can't wait to return to Boone. I love the easy-going no rush atmosphere. I enjoy being in school and learning new things. Plus the everyday scenery is breathtaking. I desperately miss looking out my window and seeing the beautiful Appalachian Mountains. I'm excited to live in my first apartment. I'm excited for my job. I"m excited to meet new people and hopefully make great friends. But I will miss my family as well as the convenience of living in a big city. Here's to starting a new chapter in my book. :]

{on-campus taken by me}

P.S. I can't wait for fall weather.

Finally Finished Book 9

Last night, after several weeks of reading and falling asleep because this book was ridiculous, I finally finished reading "A Wedding in December" by Anita Shreve. This was the first book I read that was written by Anita Shreve. I assumed it would be a good book because I had heard many positive things about her. This will probably be the last book I read written by her. This book started out so slow. Everytime I would pick it up I ended up falling asleep. It took me forever to get interested in it. And I was completely confused by the whole Innes story written by Anges. I did not understand why this story was included in the book, it was almost as long as the actual story. Of course I couldn't stop reading the book because I wanted to know what happened. This novel got interesting around page 230 and I was finally excited to see how everything was going to work out in the end. Then I got to the last page and I was completely and utterly disappointed. The ending was disastrous. I thought after all the torture of the first 320 pages maybe it would have a wonderful ending. It didn't. This book was awful and a complete waste of time for me to read. I do not recommend this novel.

At least I can say I have finished book number 9. Hopefully I can finish the 10th one before I return to Boone. And only 46 left (even though summer is almost over). I'm working on creating A list of 101 things to do in 1001 days. Has anyone else done this??

Crazy Obsessed

{photo here}

Basically I am crazy obsessed with these food storage containers from OXO. They are amazing. Every time I go to Target or Bed, Bath, and Beyond I stop and seriously consider buying them if only they weren't so expensive. The lid has a push-button in the center and when it is pushed in the container will absolutely not open. Once the button is pushed out the lid easily comes off. No spending 10 minutes trying to get the container open. I love these so much. I think they are fun. I can not wait to have my own home so I can use these to store food.

It's that Time of Year

"Don't you love New York in the fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address."
- Kathleen Kelly {You've Got Mail}

Granted I've never been to New York in the fall but I love the fall season. Especially since I've lived in the mountains. I love the leaves changing and just the smell of fall. I moved everything into my wonderful new apartment today and I am so excited. I am ready for school to start. I love to buy school supplies. I'm a nerd, yes I know. But it is so much fun. Luckily I'll have a reason to buy them until I retire. I love this quote, and I love the movie "You've Got Mail."

Move In Day

Today I am moving into my apartment. YAY! I'm very excited even though this means I'm much closer to growing up than I want to be. I found I was hired for job that I interviewed for during the Spring Semester. I am so excited and can not wait to get started. Today I'll be driving up to Boone moving all my stuff into my apartment and then coming back home for a couple of weeks. Hopefully it will be a fun day. I hope your day is fun as well.

P.S. I think you should check out Smile Steady. It is a fun and adorable blog.

Odd Food Combinations

My family has a few odd food combos we like to eat. Things Tim laughs at. Tonight we had Chili for dinner. We make our chili with ground hamburger, tomato sauce and sometimes chili beans. We put our chili on top of macaroni noodles, and on top of that we put shredded cheddar cheese and crushed up Fritos. We mix it all together and it's delicious.

Also my dad makes the best popcorn ever. We take the cheese from the Kraft Macaroni and Cheese box and put it on top of our popcorn. Because we don't use it when we make actual macaroni and cheese. You should try it sometime.

The Ugly Truth

Tim took me to see "The Ugly Truth" this week. I had been wanting to see it because I love Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler. I enjoyed the movie. I thought it was funny and cute. Granted it wasn't the best "chick-flick" and I did not enjoy it as much as "The Proposal" (which I loved, have already seen twice and am ready to own on dvd) This movie was a cute movie and entertaining.
