It's My Birthday!!

Today is my 21st birthday!

I had a family celebration last night.
The best friend and I went to breakfast this morning
and then shopping at the mall and Target.

I have the perfect outfit for dinner tonight with Tim.

This day keeps getting better.
I won't let the rain ruin my birthday fun.

Pictures to come soon!

I hope you have a happy and safe New Year's Eve!!

Movies You Should See.

First off I would like to say,
Happy 22nd Birthday to my best friend, Hillary!

I've seen about 3 "recent" movies within the past week or so.
I rented two, so those aren't technically recent.
And saw one in the theater yesterday.

I saw Julie & Julia.
Loved the movie, I thought it was so adorable.
So much better than the book.

I saw 500 Days of Summer.
I loved the movie even though I was mad at the ending.
I want to steal Zooey's wardrobe from this movie.

Yesterday I went to see The Frog Princess.
Amazing. I loved it.
I didn't realize how much I had missed the original Disney animation.
Now I want to watch all the other Princess movies (mainly because I still dream of being one someday).

Have any movie recommendations for me?

It's Almost my Birthday!

Sorry I've been absent for a while.

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas.
I know I did.

I can't believe the year is almost over, it makes me sad.
I feel like I have so much to do and not a lot of time to complete it.
Right now I have SIX books on my to be read list.
I would love to finish one before the year is over, but I doubt that will happen.
I'm very excited though because it's been a long time since I've had that many books on my shelf just waiting to be read.

I hope you have enjoyed this wonderful holiday season.
I would love to hear about something special you did.

P.S. 2 days until my birthday!

That Girl has her Nose in a Book Again!

My room is chaos.
Because after having a broken closet for almost year, and then finally getting my closet fixed this summer, due to recent (small) water damage it is now broken again.
No closet = no where to hide all my clothes and shoes and junk.

(yes, I am sitting in my closet. and yes, it is pink, kind of hard to tell from this picture)

But on the plus side, I found a great new spot to read.
And I can just close the door and hide away from the world.
Maybe I'll leave my closet broken.

Christmas Town, USA

Tonight Tim and I ventured out to what is known around here as Christmas Town, USA.
They have the best Christmas lights for miles.
It was beautiful.

Traffic was awful.
We sat in traffic maybe 30 to 45 minutes, stopped to eat at Chick-fil-a (delicious) then sat in traffic for another hour and a half at least!
But it was worth it.
The lights were beautiful and made me happy.
We got to spend a lot of time talking to each other without many distractions such as the television or other people.
We had meaningful conversations and some not so meaningful ones.
Mainly he laughed at me being silly,
which is fine by me.

P.S. Doctor called today, said the growth has decreased to half the size it was.
I was so happy, so relieved.
Thank you all for your sweet comments and prayers.
I really appreciate it.

Snow, Where are you?

In Boone in snowed up to 10 inches, maybe more.
I'm not there, I'm in Charlotte, a mere 2 1/2 hours away and no snow.
Why did it have to snow 3 days after I left?
I wish I could go play in it now and not have to think about anything serious.
I could forget my few worries and stresses and have a child like mind set for just a few hours.
It would be glorious.

I had my MRI "check-up" yesterday and the testing part went fine.
I was very still so I was only in that little confined space for maybe an hour but it was very loud.
Now waiting to hear what the scan showed is the worst anxious feeling ever.
I'm sure it will be fine but I can't help but worry and think of the negative possibilities.

I wish I had snow to play in.
If you have some where you are, could you send some to me? Please?

Such a Lucky Girl

Oh me. Oh my. Today was a busy day. I woke up and went to do some work for my Dad to earn some $. Then Tim and I went to visit where we worked over the summer. I sure did miss all those kiddos. Nothing like seeing 30 to 40 kids faces light up when they see you. I was bombarded with hugs and I didn't realize how much I had missed them.

One little boy asked me, "Are you busy on December 30th?" My reply, "I'm not sure. Why?" "Well I wanted to invite you to my birthday party." Such a sweet 7 year old boy. I can't wait until I'm a teacher!

Today I asked Tim "What do you think I should write about on my blog?"
His reply, "How beautiful you are."
My response "Wouldn't that make me conceited?"
His fantastic answer, "It's not conceited if it's true."
Isn't he the sweetest??

I'm such a lucky girl.

Meet My Wonderful Cousin Ariel

This is Ariel. She is one of my many amazing cousins.

Two years ago she shaved her head to help raise money for St. Baldrick's. St. Baldrick's is an organization that uses donations to help fund more in childhood cancer research than most other organizations. Ariel raised over $2,200 when she participated two years ago. She is planning to participate again this coming March and her goal is to raise somewhere between $3,000 to $5,000.

(the way her hair changed from right to left)

She is not asking for a lot, even if you could just donate $1. Every little bit helps. If you are anything like me you probably have a dollar in lose change just lying around your home. This is an amazing cause. And if your business would like to donate it is tax deductible.

If you are unable to donate, could you please pass this along to your friends and family who you think might be able to donate.

Donate here to help Ariel reach her goal.

Thank you all so much!

Little Letters

dear apartment,
i really wish you would be warmer.

dear boyfriend,
thank you for going with me to the art gallery today.
i really appreciate it. :]

dear boys who live below me,
i don't care if you are a member of The Beatles,
it is never appropriate to practice your guitar from 3:30 am
to 5 am. especially when it interferes with another persons sleep schedule.

dear next week,
i really hope you slow down.
i'm not looking forward to friday.

dear roommates,
i'm glad we all get along pretty well.

p.s. i stole this idea from two wonderful ladies, who write lovely letters:
the fantastic nicole and fabulous naomi.

No Matter How Many Times I Watch...

No matter how many times I watch specific episodes of my favorite shows I can't help but cry.

The Rachel and Ross fight after "We were on a Break"{image}

I know this image isn't from that scene but I couldn't find a good picture...Even though I've seen this episode 10 to 20 times I still tear up every time. It makes me so sad...and I know how it all works out in the end but I still get teary-eyed.

Also when Lorelai and Luke fight on Gilmore Girls. Before they started dating, while they were dating, after they were dating...anytime they fight I get teary eyed.

I'm not sure why this causes me to feel such strong emotions every single time but it does.

Is there a certain show or movie that makes you cry or tear up every time you watch??

PepperMint Meltaways

This recipe comes from Reynolds. These look and sound so delicious. I actually believe I can already smell them even though I'm not making them. Silly right?

Reynolds® Parchment Paper

1 cup LAND O LAKES® Butter, softened

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract

1-1/4 cups King Arthur® Unbleached All-Purpose Flour

1/2 cup Argo® Corn Starch

1-1/2 cups powdered sugar

2 tablespoons LAND O LAKES® Butter, softened

1 to 2 tablespoons milk

1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract

2 to 3 drops red food color, if desired

Candy canes or hard peppermint candy, crushed

PREHEAT oven to 350°F. Line 2 cookie sheets with Reynolds Parchment Paper; set aside.

COMBINE butter, powdered sugar and 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract in large bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Reduce speed to low; add flour and cornstarch. Beat until well mixed.

COVER dough; refrigerate until firm (30 to 60 minutes).

SHAPE rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into 1-inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on parchment-lined cookie sheets.

BAKE 12 to 15 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Let stand 1 minute; slide parchment with cookies onto a wire rack to cool. Cool completely.

FOR GLAZE, combine powdered sugar, butter, peppermint extract and enough milk for desired glazing consistency in small bowl. Stir in food color, if desired. Drizzle glaze over cookies on parchment. Immediately sprinkle with crushed candy.

Christmas Presents Blunder

Have you ever received a gift that you thought was going to be amazing and it turned out to be something odd? At our house we have a tradition that we are allowed to open one gift on Christmas Eve. One particular year as I was caught up in the excitement of Christmas, I naturally chose the biggest present. This was stupid on my part. I opened my present and a received a glass shaped head. It looked like this:

Not the best gift for a middle school girl, especially since she doesn't know what it was. My entire family and I were baffled as to what it's purpose was. At first I thought it was a bank, but there was no coin what could this be? I finally called the giver and asked "what is this for?" It is a place to hold your hats. One other presents was a hat but I would have to wait until Christmas morning to discover that. This was probably the most crazy unexpected gift I ever received. Now I use it in my room to display whichever lovely hat I prefer.

My Life Today...

My life today was interesting? Maybe...probably not, but I'll share what happened with you anyways.

I was so excited last night to wake up this morning and wear my new super cute outfit with my super cute matching boots. I wake up and it is raining so hard and it had rained all night and planned to rain all day. Great. I was determined to wear my outfit anyways, so I did. Unfortunately I had to wear my rain boots (they're cute too but just didn't match as well). Walked around all day freezing and wet.

Then while I was sitting in my last class of the day the girl sitting to my left said to me "Something smells like spaghetti and meatballs." We look to our right and this other girl had a can of Chef Boyardee spaghetti or something and was eating it straight from the can with a fork! I found this so weird. And then she started to scrape the can, metal against metal = worst sound ever. (Literally just got chills thinking about it)

Then work this afternoon was complete and utter chaos. And that's all I have to say about that. (Only one day left)

Driving around town today was difficult. I don't understand my defroster. It has mind of it's own and is psycho.

Best part of the day? The rainbow I saw on my way home from work. After a long icky, dark, rainy day there was a gorgeous rainbow. I wish I could have taken a picture of it.

But I had a delicious dinner and am in for the rest of the night. No more cold and no more rain (at least for today).

Tell me something about your day.

Children are Precious

Yesterday at work I sat down to play a game with a young boy. He said "Here let me set everything up for you because you are a lady and men do more work than ladies do." - so precious. He was so sweet, and when my turn came he even spun the spinner for me. Adorable right? I smiled for the rest of the day.

What has made you smile recently?

My 21st Birthday

My 21st birthday is coming up at the end of this month. I would love to celebrate in style but I have a very limited budget. Also my birthday happens to fall on New Years Eve so it's hard to celebrate birthday and holiday all in one. Do you have any good ideas to share with me? How did you celebrate your 21st birthday?

I would love to hear from you!

Book Number 14

I finished reading Sleeping Arrangements. I actually finished it a while ago but kept forgetting to post. I thought this was an amazing book. Of course I've loved every book by Madeleine Wickham/Sophie Kinsella. I thought all of the stories about relationships were interesting. I loved the interaction between everyone. I thought the nanny was hilarious with all of her "jokes." It has been so long since I read it, I forgot the characters names...haha. I do remember that I really enjoyed the book and finished in about 3 days because I could not put it down. I highly recommend this book.

14 books down, 41 left. I bought two books while I was at home this week and can't wait to read them (especially since I only paid $4 total for both books).

Hope you had a great Sunday.

This Reminds Me Of...

I know I haven't posted in awhile. Sorry. School has been quite overwhelming this past week. Many projects and a history research paper (ick) and a presentation. All due today and tomorrow. What are these crazy professors thinking? Anyways I plugged my camera in to upload some pictures and I found this amazing photo (I think it's amazing).

I know it is quite similar to many other photos I've shared with you. But for some reason this one reminds me of phrase "Arabian Nights" mentioned in Aladdin. I'm unsure of why but it does. I hope to catch up on some posts this week as well as reading while I am on my Thanksgiving break. I hope you all had a wonderful Monday.

Puzzle Ring. I want one!!

Isn't this ring gorgeous? This lady I work with had one on yesterday. Guess what the cool thing about it is! It comes apart like this:Are you wondering why? This a puzzle ring. People used them in the Middle Ages. Kings normally gave them to their wives because they (a) had a lot of wives and (b) if you took it off to fool around with someone else they would know because the wives didn't know how to put them back together. Isn't that so cool? This ring is a 6 band one but they have ones that go up to 12 bands. I want one.

Things I'm Loving This Week

Idea stolen from the lovely Nicole of my teacups in peony.

This (more like last) week I am loving:

The opportunity to spend time at home with my family and friends.

My older sister's new jewelry store. She has an etsy shop but now has an actual store in our hometown.

My younger sister is starting to recover from being sick (yay!).

My brother has grown like 10 inches (an exaggeration but it feels like that much).

The crafty new headband I made (with a little help from my mother and the wonderful Rubyellen from cakies).

The fantastic ring I recieved from juneshin ( my professor asked me if it was an heirloom yesterday).

A Letter to You

Dear Jerk who lives below me,

I am a student. I want to graduate within four years. In order to do that I need sleep and I need time to study. I can not accomplish either one of these when you play your music so freaking loud that my floor vibrates. It feels like an earthquake and that the floor could give way at any minute. I know you need to listen to music or practice or whatever the heck it is you do down there...but PLEASE learn that at 12:30 on a Wednesday night some people (like me) are sleeping and they have to wake up at 6:30 the next morning. Seriously learn some common courtesy. I'm not afraid to call the sheriff again but I still have some small hope that you will realize what a jerk you are being and stop. I would greatly appreciate it. I'll even bake you your favorite cookies. Please just let me live in peace and quiet!

Your fantastic neighbor (who secretly wishes you would get evicted)

What would you like?

I have sort of hit a small writers block. Ideas come to me during the day when I am away from the computer and then I sit down to blog and my idea has seemed to lock itself away somewhere in my brian. Of course I have misplaced the key to this place it is hiding.
So I thought I would have you (my fabulous readers) ask me questions on anything you want to know about me or tell me few topics you would like me to write about.
I would love to hear your thoughts and questions. You can leave them right here in the comment section or you can e-mail me @
I hope you all have a fantastic weekend.

Guilty Pleasures

I saw a discussion on 20sb about guilty pleasures. I decided I would share my top 5 guilty pleasures with you.
  1. Milk-duds. I love them. I could eat three boxes in one day. Unfortunately I have limit myself or I would be very unhealthy.
  2. Trashy romance novels. Maybe they aren't the "trashy" ones but they are all about the romance. Some days I just can't help myself, I have to pick one up and read it.
  3. Ryan Reynolds. ( cute) I could stare at him all day.
  4. Painting my toe nails.
  5. Gilmore Girls. I love this show so much. I have 5 out of the 7 seasons on DVD.

I would love for you share yours with me. You can leave it in a comment or if you post about it on your blog leave me a link.

I hope you had a fabulous weekend.

Girl Crush?

After watching Carrie Underwood's music video for Cowboy Casanova I have developed a serious girl crush on her. I love this video and all of her fabulous outfits. I like the song as well.

Who is your crush??

Book Number 13

I finished reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected. I thought the writing was very well done and the story line was amazing. I enjoyed escaping into a fantasy world where all kinds of magical things can happen. You should definitely read it if you haven't already.

I just picked up Sleeping Arrangements by Madeleine Wickham. Hopefully I will have that finished before the weekend is over.

Guess what! I won a give away! My first one. I am so excited. I will have to show you my lovely prize soon. :]

I hope you have had a fabulous Thursday.

Forty-two books left until I reach my goal.

When I Grow Up

When I was a young girl I wanted to be a princess when I grew up. When I found that Sarah meant "Hebrew Princess" I knew I just had to grow up and marry a prince.  I had dreams of being a princess and living in a fabulous castle. I bought I tiara (a bridal one) when I was 11 or 12 for my Halloween costume. In all honesty, I still have it. I would be lying if I told you I didn't put it on and still use my imagination. (giggle) Sometimes I still daydream about it. Tim tells me that I'll always be his princess. I'm a very lucky girl.

When you were little what did you want to be when you grew up?

What's more important, Love or Silliness?

As I was watching Friends last night, Ross asked Chandler and Monica "What is more important Love or Silliness?" I don't know why but this made me giggle an uncontrollable amount.  I think it is important to have an equal amount of love and silliness. And I love this quote, I found it on weheartit. What is your opinion?? What do you think is an important quality in a relationship?

I got a 99.4 on my test in geography. *happy dance*

I hope you had a wonderful Tuesday.

Cowboy Take Me Away..

Sometimes I wish I could just escape to a place like this. I could lay on a blanket and sleep or read a book. This weekend has just been one of those where I feel I need an escape. I can't believe there is only a month left in this semester. After this so many things are going to change and I'm not quite ready for it. I wish I could just spend a day doing nothing in a place like the picture.

Funny Video For This Week

Happy Halloween! Have fun and don't eat too much candy!

Friday, October 30, 2009

I would love to have a cupcake like this. I really want to make one... I think it would be so much fun. I want a giant cupcake for my birthday this year (hint hint). haha, just kidding. Seriously though doesn't this look like fun to make and eat?? And you can share it with a bunch of people.

My computer is being really weird so it might be a while before I can get a decent post up for you all. I hope you have a fun and safe Halloween weekend.

One of the Best Feelings

Today I opened my dresser drawer and saw a pair of pants that are one size smaller than I wear now. Oh but they are so cute and I remember buying them on sale. Now I am stuck in a dilemma, Do I try the pants on, hoping and praying they fit or just let them sit there and remember what size I used to be? Today I was brave. I pulled them out of the drawer and slowly slipped one leg in. Hesitant I slip the other one in. That prayer must of work because I don't struggle as much to pull them up. After fastening the buttons it is time for that moment of truth, can I still breathe?
The answer:

I was so super excited with this answer. Especially since it wasn't a pair that is kind of too small where I can still somehow manage to squeeze myself in. One whole size smaller. It was the highlight of my day. *happy dance*

I hope you had a fabulous Wednesday and that you find something that makes you do a happy dance.

National Novel Writing Month

I have never heard of this before it's called National Novel Writing Month. Everyone who signs up for it tries to write a 175 page (50,000 words) novel from November 1st until November 30th. I think it's a fabulous idea and if I didn't have so much school work I would definitely participate. Have you participated before? Or are you going to this year? I would love to know. I am not sure what I would even write about.

It's raining here. It's been raining all day. It's the perfect day to crawl up in bed with chocolate chip cookies and read a great book. I need some books to read, any suggestions?

I hope you are having a fabulous Tuesday.

I could really go for a Cook-Out Milkshake

I could really go for a Cook-Out Oreo milkshake right about now. It's just been one of those days. I'm having a hard time picking a topic to focus do you over come "writers block" so to speak?

I am a crazy dreamer. I seem to have the craziest most outrageous dreams ever. Maybe I'll start a series and share them with you.

I am trying to get ahead start on my homework since I have so many books to read for my World Lit. class along with everything else. Hopefully I can stay ahead or I could just procrastinate by reading all of your fabulous blogs.

I hope you have had a wonderful weekend.

More Mountain Photos

I was uploading some pictures from my camera and I found these:

(click photo to enlarge)

Can you find the moon in the above pictures?

I am so lucky to live where I do and see these beautiful sights almost everyday.

P.S. I'm trying to work out something special for you all so keep reading.

Classy or Trashy?

I would love to have a pair of these to wear with that little black dress.

But boyfriend thinks they are trashy. I think they would be cute as long as my whole outfit isn't cheetah print. What's your opinion?

I love this song as well as Sister Hazel. I especially love the line, "No you don't care that I'm weird and that's amazing." This line describes Tim and I exactly. We are always telling each other how weird we think the other one is and then always end with "but that's why I love you."

What song do you feel describes part of you?

Follow Your Dreams

They picked my picture for icanread. Yay! This helps me mark one more thing off my list. And I've been reading the first Harry Potter book for my World Literature Class (which is probably one of the best classes ever) so that gets me started on another list item. I am excited because of all my school work I haven't really been able to take part in recreational reading. Hopefully I can pick up again soon. My first class is cancelled so I get to sleep in tomorrow. *happy dance*

Hope you have had a wonderful Tuesday.

Snow in October??

I am back in Boone. There was some snow on the steps to my apartment. And this is view of one of the ski slopes I can see from my window. I am not quite ready for winter. I love fall to much.
This picture below was taken last fall during our first snow of the school year.

I hope you have had a wonderful Sunday.

You Won't Believe It

I narrowed down my purse collection to ten purses. Which is still quite a few but I have always been obsessed with purses and shoes...mainly because they always fit. I only carry three maybe four regularly but there are those for special occasions and ones I just can't part with. I was amazed I was able to narrow it down. I am heading back to Boone tomorrow, hoping there isn't any snow (I love the snow, but I'm not ready for it yet).

I hope you have been having a wonderful weekend.

Doesn't this look like FUN?

I was spending a lot of time on the internet the other day and discovered that there is a place not far from the great state of NC where you can get in a big ball and roll around. I have seen this on commercials before but thought it was only for cool people who live in the television (joke). Seriously I thought only people could do it on TV. Now I've learned there is a place in the Great Smoky Mountains where average people like me can go do this. It is called Zorb and known as globe riding. Go to the website and check it out. I can not wait to take advantage of what I can imagine only as a wonderful opportunity. Has anyone done this? If so, what was your experience like?

Thanks to You

I know I haven't shared much about myself so I am going to share some now. I started this blog in the spring mainly as an outlet for everything I was going through. It was the end of my sophomore year of college and I had been dealing with a lot. I was going through drama with some friends (that started in the fall of freshman year) and I was really crushed. I never realized you could become so hurt from a friend but I guess that's part of life. All of this drama drained me emotionally. In December I went to the doctor and discovered there was a small benign tumor in my brain (one year check up this December). I know it's nothing major compared to what other people go through but at that time it completely pushed me over the edge. And I felt as though I didn't have a good friend to confide in or I felt I was burdening them with my issues (two of the worst feelings ever). Luckily I had my wonderful family and fabulous boyfriend to help me through it. But I was so angry, so upset that I would write awful hateful things here on this blog. Then I had a change of heart. After looking at lovely blogs written by wonderful people I decided that all this negativity, worrying, and drama was wasting so much of my energy. Energy that could be better spend on other things, like school, my family, time with Tim, and time with real friends. It was really hard for me (still is some days) but I'm trying. I would like to say thanks to all of you because reading your fabulous blogs has helped me.

On another note, I am going home tomorrow for fall break. Right now I'm watching Monty Python and the Holy Grail and I'm not sure I understand it. I love the panda picture, it makes me smile every time. I'll try to have a happier post tomorrow or Friday.

So Adorable.

New Layout

So as you can you tell I've changed my layout some. I am having a hard time deciding whether or not I like it. Let me know what you think.

Anyways, Fall Break starts tomorrow evening and I definitely need a break. Hopefully I can find a good book to read during my break. I'm not sure what else to write at this moment, I hope you all are having a good week so far.

Book Number Twelve

I finally finished Little Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner. I thought I was never going to finish because school kept getting in the way. I absolutely loved this book. It was an amazing story about relationships, not just "love" ones, but relationships between friends, in-laws, parents, children, and husbands. I loved getting to know all of the characters and their story. By the end of the book I felt as though they were my friends. The wonderful self-discovery journey that each character took was so intriguing. Once I picked the book up this week I had a hard time putting it back down. I highly reccomend this book. Especially if you are a fan of Jennifer Weiner.

Twelve books down, only Forty-three left. And I marked one more thing off of my 101 list!

Any reccomendations for my next book??

Living in the Moment

Today I watched Oprah. I don't normally watch Oprah but through the blogosphere I had heard that Stephanie from NieNie Dialouges was going to be on. I had come across her blog several times but never really sat down and read through it. I heard her story today while watching Oprah and was completely amazed by her. I was on the verge of tears. Her story is so wonderful, you should check out her blog and read her story. You should also watch her from todays episode of Oprah. She inspires me to enjoy the little things in my life, the small things I normally take for granted. She is so strong and the love from her husband and family is just amazing. By watching they way they interacted you could tell it was unconditional love, which is so rare. Please go read her story.

{image: we heart it}

P.S. I just adore this picture. It doesn't have much to do with the post but I think it's cute.
